Amal is a partner in our Actuarial Practice, based in Toronto.

With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, she leads and supports major initiatives across financial, risk, and actuarial domains, with a focus on financial reporting.

In her client work, Amal tackles complex problems and strengthens quantitative insights. She has a strong track record of aligning financial, risk, and governance strategies to drive enterprise performance and strengthen capital resilience. Dedicated to continuous improvement, she excels at advancing actuarial transformation and process enhancements that increase efficiency. 

A key highlight in her career was successfully leading the on-time IFRS 17 implementations for three Canadian insurers, ensuring smooth cross-functional collaboration between actuarial, finance, and technology teams. Under her leadership, the Canadian practice became a recognized industry leader on IFRS 17. Most recently, Amal helped a notable company tackle income statement volatility, diagnosing issues despite limited access to standard actuarial model data, demonstrating her exceptional problem-solving skills. Throughout the course of projects, Amal actively mentors and coaches her teams.

Since joining the firm in 2001, Amal has built a rich and multifaceted career, bridging expertise across the actuarial and financial services practices. After 13 years in financial services, she returned to actuarial and quickly became a leading expert in financial reporting, demonstrating her adaptability and depth of expertise.

Amal holds a bachelor of mathematics from the University of Waterloo. She is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA).

Outside of work, Amal enjoys playing badminton with her son and swimming. Most recently, she and her family have taken up martial arts stick fighting as part of their weekly physical activities.
